Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays will celebrate the beginning of its off-Broadway run by spreading its message of equality with one-night-only performances of the show across America on November 7. Funds from the evening will be used to raise awareness for marriage equality. Standing on Ceremony officially opens at off-Broadway's Minetta Lane Theatre on November 13.
Conceived by Brian Shnipper, Standing On Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays features short plays from writers including Neil LaBute, Moises Kaufman, Paul Rudnick, Doug Wrght, John Harrison, Wendy MacLeod, Jeffrey Hatcher and Joe Keenan.
Twenty-five theaters and universities are confirmed to participate in the nationwide event in 19 states including Texas, North Dakota, Florida, Kansas, Michigan, North Carolina and California. A reading will also take place in Sydney, Australia.
